It is quite difficult for people outside America to live in America and become American citizen. People who want to go to America usually have to find a Green Card. However, the green card is for a limited time. After your green card is expired, green card renewal is the only solution to prolong your stay in America if you want to stay out of trouble. Having your green card expired is not the only problems that make you do the renewal. In fact, there are actually so many reasons why people are renewing their green card. For instance, people will renew their green card if their green card has lost or stolen. When your card has stolen or lost, there will b no proof that you are actually legal to come and live in the United States. Thus, it is very important for you to report the case and then apply for a new green card for you. If you take it for granted, I am pretty sure that you will get a lot of trouble when the immigration authorities come to you to check your green card. Thus, if you lost your green card, it is better for you to report the case immediately to the immigration authority and show some evidence that you have before obtained the green card. If I were you, I will copy or scan my green card for evidence just in case that I lose my green card.
